This was released online by Jim yesterday:

Notice the USB port for off-Camera charging. Apparently, the batteries are rechargeable and replaceable at a service center. (They are not AAA-like.) According to RED, there is not enough room in the box for them to be easily replaceable.
When docked to the camera, REDmote is powered from the camera (and commences re-charging it's internal battery)
You can also recharge the REDMOTE from a standard 3rd party USB charger.
Another note, the REDmote is supposed to be able to control mutliple RED Cameras, or allow for many REDmotes and Cameras to be independeantly controlled.
