Jim speaks about the "competition":
"We have heard a lot about "other cameras". No problem with us. If you are OK with an RGB codec, plastic bodies or "almost"... please feel free to buy and support the "other guys".
In a world of "buy one now and then buy the next one because it just might almost be what you really want"... we are OK with whatever you do.
The competition preys on consumers that get "almost" what they want. Then the next camera is "almost closer to what you really want". Spend your money now is what they want. Spend your money again because it is "closer". But you never really get everything you really want. Why not? That is the real question. Why not RAW? Why not in a small package? Why not no line skipping? Why not full resolution and high frame rates? Why not record to a small CF or SSD?
The industry does not want you to have everything. It is not in their best interests. There are price points to protect.
RED's philosophy is to "be the customer". To release products that are everything that we can do to give you everything you want. Everything we want as a customer is what we make. That is our philosophy.
Who you support now is who will be in business next year. Choose carefully...
...After 3 years no one has challenged REDCODE RAW. And now our patent has issued. I expect that this will cause a major wave in the industry."
