And meet "Lucky" who took the shots.

A few more EPIC Still images posted by Jim Jannard recently.

"Just fooling around with EPIC "Snake Oil"...

EPIC 5K scaled to 1200x600. Standard settings like 23.98 fps, etc. Softbox from above. Photoshop. Just like you might do with a DSLR. Careful with the comments... that's my wife.

This is just REDCODE 42, which is the equivalent to about REDCODE 20 at 5K. Really incredible what Graeme has done with REDCODE. Just wait until we enable REDCODE 250 (which I don't think is necessary unless you are shooting 120fps). I can hold this camera with one hand above my head.., and I'm an old guy. I'm telling you... this is the best camera ever made... and I own them all.

BTW... I have cropped into the image on both shots.

Side note... we are going to change our REDCODE terminology to a ratio... like 12:1 compression, or 3:1 compression depending on the image size. It will be much easier to understand."

More from Jim:

"Here is some reference...

REDcode 42 is the equivalent of 7.5:1 compression ratio with 4K and a RED ONE (64 MB/sec).
REDcode 36 is 9:1
REDcode 28 is 10:1

Some numbers for the various formats:

5k FF (5120x2700)@24fps:
REDcode 7.5:1 = 65MB/s
REDcode 5:1 = 100MB/s

5k HD (4800x2700)@24fps:
REDcode 7.5:1 = 60MB/s
REDcode 5:1 = 92MB/s

5k 2:1 (5120x2560)@24fps:
REDcode 7.5:1 = 60MB/s
REDcode 5:1 = 92MB/s

5k 2.37:1 (5120x2160)@24fps:
REDcode 7.5:1 = 52MB/s
REDcode 5:1 = 78MB/s

Full chart will be published with the release of EPIC. If there are any errors in these it is because it is late (1:20 am)"

Meet " GHOST "

Shot by EPIC " CRACKPOT " @ 23.98fps 1/48 RC42 ISO 800 5K- Full Sensor (5120x2700)

If my theory is right about the EPIC Proto names so far, Jim and company are taking a slight dig at the folks who called them a scam way back when.

So far the EPIC-X Protos have been named:

SNAKE OIL
LUCKY
JACKPOT
CRACKPOT
GHOST

Touche! I would like to see the next one called VAPOR, as in Vaporware! Wink What do ya say, Jarred?

What an awesome achievement, and to have a sense of humor to go along with it... good form.
