Today RED announced that the new 16GB CF cards have started shipping in small quantities and that they will be ramped up in the coming weeks.

They are said to be the fastest CF Cards on the planet right now. About 450x on writes and 600x on reads. Some beta testing reports say that offloading a full 16GB CF was clocked at 2min 34sec (going to a raid drive).

These cards are reportedly fast enough to sustain 120fps at 2K, which the earlier 8GB cards only maxxed out at around 113fps.

They will require the updated onboard RED CF Card Module which supports 8GB and 16GB cards to be able to handle the speed of the new cards. Each camera gets one V2.0 CF module included at no charge on your first purchase of the 16gb cards. New Cameras are now being shipped with the V2.0 (16GB compatible) CF module.
