Here is a snippet from an article in Motive Magazine on the forthcoming Honda Fuel Cell:
"Next summer, Honda will begin a limited leasing program of the FCX Clarity, a production version of the FCX concept first shown two years ago at Tokyo.
The "FC" in the name, of course, stands for fuel cell, and the unit found in the FCX that debuted today in Los Angeles is 65 percent smaller than Honda's last fuel cell stack. This contributed to Honda's ability to package the car as a small four-door hatchback.
The FCX Clarity has a range of 270 miles, a 30 percent increase over the current FCX test vehicles. Fuel economy (considering the energy needed to fill the 5000-psi hydrogen storage tank) is the equivalent of 68 mpg and the car's power-to-weight ratio is improved drastically thanks to a 400-pound weight reduction in the powertrain.
Keeping with the "way of the future" mission, the vehicle itself uses plant-based materials for the seat upholstery and door skins. Leasing will begin next summer in Southern California, with monthly payments of about $600, including service and insurance."
