The new REDDRIVE portable RAID for the RED ONE Camera is now shipping. The module costs $900 and consists of dual 160GB Drives set in a plastic housing that also has Firewire 800, Firewire 400, and USB 2.0 connections for quick attachment or downloading to your PC or MAC.
This is a significant upgrade for RED Operators, since the Camera was limited to the 8GB Compact Flash Card which could record only around 4 or 5 minutes of 4K footage. 16 and 32GB CF Cards will probably be coming out soon that are fast enough, but the REDDRIVE is a welcome addition. It mounts on the REDCRADLE which is sold with the Base Production Pack or sold separately.
