A thought occurred to me that it might be interesting if you were able to use the uploadable LUT (parameters) in a way for Pre-Viz on GreenScreen footage. A "built-in Chromakeyer" so to speak.
The theory is that you would create a customized LUT in REDCINE and replace the Green values (or Blue) with the Value of X which would represent a pixel in an uploadable still image.
If the RED has enough memory on board to store a 4K still image, then it is conceivable that you might be able to have a real-time pre-viz of a Chromakey, all while recording RAW to your Drive or Compact Flash card.
Of course, you would already be able to do this with the SDI output and a highend Keyer and StillStore... but that would add more gear inline (you might need a D/A converter, etc.)
This could come in real handy for certain types of shoots... FX Plates, Commercials, Music Videos, various Pre-Viz scenarios...
What do you guys think? Is this possible with the inner workings of the RED hardware? Be nice if someone stopped in to answer... I can dream, can't I? _________________ Casey Green
