REDUser and EPIC Owner, Tim Whitcomb, was selected to beta test RED's forthcoming EPIC QUAD BATTERY MODULE. Here is what he had to report on the first day of testing:
"Got back late this afternoon to this wonderful surprise courtesy of Jarred and RED ... FIRST... let me say... this is one of the COOLEST module locking systems... (illl take detailed pics when i have a better camera)
but at first Im like... whoa, thats fits loose... but underneath, there is a latch. quarter turn with an ALLEN and it secures the Module... ROCK SOLID! (after you bolt on the Module Adapter of course, which is the spacer you see between the EPIC and the QUAD MODULE)
The days of powering down to change batteries is ALL BUT OVER FOLKS!
Been pulling out random VOLTs... as long as 1 stays in... Keeps on going and going... I have been leaving it on now for 1:45 minutes recording boring camera charts in my prep room and haven't powered down once! (MAN I NEED A QUAD CHARGER THOUGH TO KEEP UP!)
Appears to power SEQUENTIALLY... which is great.. only ONE RED VOLT powers at a time... so its easy to keep track as you go (because its a prototype... in camera batt level monitoring is not enabled yet)
Here few CRAPPY iphone photos... will take much better ones tomorrow and in the field... meantime - jarred wanted me to TEASE you guys...
Photos below:
1. OLD SCHOOL vs NEW SCHOOL
2 VOLTS REMOVED... STILL GOING STRONG!
