One of the benefits of the RED Camera is of course it's standard ability to use Professional PL-Mount Lenses. Other Lens Mounts and adapters have long been on the accessories list.

Today, RED released pictures of the first F-Mount adapter RED Camera which enables the use of Nikon and other F-Mount Lenses.

Today RED released pictures of the finished Nikon Mount, which will be an option that can be separately ordered and swapped out by the customer. All RED Cameras will ship with PL-Mounts from the factory.

The Nikon mount uses the same back focus adjustment ring as the PL mount.. and you can adjust the backfocus the same way you do with the PL Mount.

When swapping out mounts, make sure you are in a very clean environment, as the sensor will not have any protective layer over it during the transition. (dust, etc.)

Also mentioned was that heavy duty springs with tighter tolerances were used to make sure the mounts wouldn't wobble with heavy focusing, as is sometimes seen in other nikon mounts.

According to RED, the first units will begin shipping within a couple of weeks.
