REDCINE is a software application for PC or MAC that allows users to open RED REDCODE RAW (.R3D) video files. It also allows users to do a "1st light color correction" and export to any number of output options. This is a free Beta release and is not officially supported yet by RED.

Also available are the Camera Operations Guide and other software apps and plugins:

RED has released this information online for their REDCine application:

NOTE:

REDCINE 1.0.60 is a beta software release. This software is for preview and testing purposes only. Beta software should not be used on commercial projects.

OPERATING SYSTEMS:

Mac - REDCINE should be used only on Tiger OSX. Testing has not been done in Leopard.

PC – REDCINE should only be used on Windows XP Professional 32-bit with Service Pack 2. Testing has not been done on Vista.

KNOWN ISSUES:

NR value is not persisting. It reverts back to LOW as soon as current frame is changed.

New project sets the viewer to 1:1 instead of FIT.

Selecting the current frame advances the viewer image +1 frame but the actual number is not updated. Results in wrong value being used. Manually changing the current frame corrects this.

OSX ONLY -- if a QT file is selected in the Finder and you try to re-render over that file, REDCINE will fail. Unselect the file in Finder and renders will work.

CLEAN INSTALLS:

When upgrading from previous builds of REDCINE you must remove certain folders. BACKUP ALL FOLDERS BEFORE DELETING THEM AS THIS WILL REMOVE ALL CURRENT REDCINE PROJECTS.

Windows: Be sure to save the current REDCINE timeline you are working on and exit REDCINE.

Backup the following folders: C:\Program Files\REDCINE and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\REDCINE

Remove REDCINE using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS

Delete the folders; C:\Program Files\REDCINE and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\REDCINE

Install the new build of REDCINE by double-clicking on the .msi installer

You can access saved REDCINE Projects from the backup you created.

OSX: Be sure to save the current REDCINE timeline you are working on and exit REDCINE.

Backup the following folder: Install Disk\Library\REDCINE

Delete the folder: Install Disk\Library\REDCINE

Double-click the disk image that was included in the installer zip, which will open a folder with the application package.

Drag the package into the Application folder

SUPPORT:

REDCINE Beta is not directly supported by RED. All technical questions should be directed to the REDUSER.NET online community in this REDCINE Workflow sub-forum.
