my production environment is like that of an independant filmmaker, small, and convenient, llow budget of course. A Mac G5 with FCP 5 and I mainly edit on DVCAM. How could I upgrade my system to match therequirements of a red camera footage?

will also post this in the general discussion...

Thanks

if i understand correctly, you will need an update to Final cut studio 2 which is not released yet that supports it. perhaps a more robust cpu.

i think prices will be coming down and the reality of using affordable hardware and software required for indie films using red will be achievable.

I'm running a G5 system as well, with FCP Studio 2.0. Right now, my workflow is as follows for 2k:

Offload onto FW800 drive on intel macbook/iMac > Export Tiff/DPX image sequence > Import into QT > Export 2k Pro-res file.

I'm then able to open and edit the 2k files in realtime, off of FW800 drives.

Once Redcine's released, we should be able to go out to the Pro-Res files straight from there.
