Hi The Outfit,
The first reservation holders will begin receiving shipments soon, but as of today, the camera has not yet shipped to many customers. If anyone is planning on renting out their Red.... please post here in the For Sale / For Rent section.
What do you plan on doing if you rent / buy one? _________________ Casey Green

Hello, kalpana, and welcome.
To purchase a RED One Camera, you must put in a reservation down payment (last I heard this was 10% of your total order price). You can do this by visiting the RED Online store, found here:
http://www.red.com/store
Just select the items you would like (Red Camera Body, Accessories, Lenses, etc.) and they will put an order together for you. If you have more specific needs or questions, you can email them or call them here:
http://www.red.com/contact_us
or here:
RED Digital Cinema Camera Company
Phone: +1-949-206-7900
Fax: +1-949-206-7990
We’re available Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Time (GMT- ... unless we are gone.
20302 Valencia Circle
Lake Forest, CA 92630
USA
The Red Camera is quite modular, has many options, and they do offer a Basic and a Premium Production pack which will include the other parts necessary since the Red Camera body alone still needs a lens, Viewfinder or LCD screen, etc.
We are happy to try to answer any additional questions you might have, but you can also go directly to RED themselves if you are planning on purchasing.
Since there are already over 2000 reservations, it is thought that any new Camera reservations would be at least 9 months back ordered from the date ordered... but that may not be exactly accurate.
The first 50 Cameras are supposed to ship in about a month, so if you ordered today, you might expect shipment around May or June of 2008... but only RED can answer that.
As for Work Flow questions, we would need to know more about your production environment and requirements. This perhaps should be in the General discussion area. Feel free to start new topics and questions on that part of the website.
Thanks again for stopping by. We look forward to hearing more about your plans for using the RED One Camera. _________________ Casey Green

thanks casey.
thats a big help.
my production environment is like that of an independant filmmaker, small, and convenient, llow budget of course. A Mac G5 with FCP 5 and I mainly edit on DVCAM. How could I upgrade my system to match therequirements of a red camera footage?
will also post this in the general discussion...
Thanks
Kalpana |

|
|
hi kalpana
the software to proces the red file's .R3D is caled redalert and it needs an intel mac, so you need to upgrade to a mac pro i don't know about redcine that's the expanded redalert app. but i suspect it needs an intel processor also.
.R3D file's are a wavelbased codec file's that readalert can put a quicktime wrapper around so you can edit them in fcp or for better quality export tiff or dpx from it
if you can capture for example the Video Preview HD-SDI and HDMI
1280×720 progressive, 4:2:2 signal on a raid you don't need a intel mac but i do recomend intel mac fr speed and i also don;t know about the quality of the 'previeuw' output
and i think the raw output wil need a intel processeror also
for your g5 you could buy a capture card from blackmagic design (i have alot of good experince with their products an a raid solution from dulce those i only know from revieuws but think they are quit good
cheers
Martijn
ps get a mac pro |
