Writer, Director, Mark Neveldine ("Crank") has recently been testing one of the RED betas (named "Acapulco") in some interesting ways...

(RED founder, Jim Jannard, released these photos online - click on thumbnails below for full-res full-color versions)

After having some time testing the RED Cameras, here is what he had to say:

"Film is dead. And by the way, so is video.... The word is getting out that RED is the future, but for us it is right now. After holding these bad boys in our hands and putting the cameras through the full neveldine/taylor acid test our faith in the mad scientists at RED labs is unlimited. We're committed to RED for every project we've got in the pipeline."

I wouldn't go that far as to say film is dead, although I do see more productions moving away from it, I think it will be around for quite some time. Interesting quote though... it shows how much of an impact the RED can make when one gets to see it up close and in this case, actually shoot their own footage. Hopefully we'll get to see some of it.

As far as the "projects in the pipeline" go, it looks as though the co-directors will next be working on ("Game") - a sci-fi thriller, due out in 2009.
