Here is a list of specs and information (subject to change) about the RED Electronic View Finder (EVF) and LCD Monitor accessories as compiled from various posts by RED team members on several RED Forums. The contents of the list, as shown here, have been abridged and/or summarized from the original versions to cut down on redundancy and provide easy access to the pertinent information. (Thanks to Steve Gibby for organizing much of this data.) We will try and update this information as we learn more:

RED-LCD - $1,700 - 5.6" Screen - HD format - Native Resolution: 1024 x 600

Includes:

* RED ARM adjustable mount arm
* Interface cable – 1ft

RED-EVF - $2,950 - HD format - Native Resolution: 1280 x 848

Includes:

* RED ARM adjustable mount arm
* Interface cable – 1ft

-------------------------------------------

Partial Feature List:

EVF:

False Color Meter - only in EVF, potential for LCD in future. Overlays the entire image and forces it to monochrome.

Not optical, but many of the same characteristics of an optical - including SurroundView(tm) the ability to see around the outside of the frame recorded, and also being a true HD viewfinder, provides accurate focus.

EVF has been designed from the perspective of an integrated monitoring component, rather than a stand alone device. Although it uses a broadcast standard Hirose connector, its has a custom digital interface based around DVI, which allows advanced signal processing in the camera body, and a high level of communications between camera and viewfinder.

The RED EVF can't be used with other cameras.

EVF and LCD:

Histogram - RGB histograms that appear under the main image

Waveform - Luma waveform that appears under the main image

Focus "Waveform" - Focus “waveform” that appears under the main image

Video Assist - Assist is HD, has multiple choices for frame guidelines, supports DVI (using a custom LEMO connector), HDMI and HD-SDI. RED's available HD-LCD panel may be ideal for applications where a compact monitor is desired.

Showing you what's happening outside of the recorded area (just like an optical viewfinder does) is one of the key differences between the RED-EVF and any other electronic view finding systems. This feature, called SurroundView(tm), is also supported on the RED-LCD and both the HDMI and HD-SDI based HD Preview outputs.

Both the EVF and LCD can be connected/functional simultaneously.

The RED-EVF and RED-LCD are driven by a common output from the camera that is expressed on two independent DVI based digital video, power and control interfaces.

Both show Surround View, Histograms, Focus Assist, Frame Guides and Camera menus / status.
