Apple announces integration of Intel's Thunderbolt I/O technology (formerly codenamed LightPeak) in it's latest laptops and all products moving forward:

Looks like Apple and Intel have ganged up together to push yet another new standard. If you recall Apple helped push USB back in 1998 in a similar fashion. Unless you absolutely need to transfer tons of data in a blink of an eye, I would let the early adopters take the hit and wait for Thunderbolt/Light Peak to go mainstream. Of course once it is mainstream we can all enjoy blistering data transfer speeds up to 100 gigabits per second.
