Responding yet again to unsubstantiated negative posts on REDUser from people who "heard this or that" about the RED Cameras - which is commonly known as FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt), Jim Jannard responded with the following insightful post:

"A new post comes in and people are scanning so they read "Michael Bay says there were camera problems on Pirates 4." They don't bother to read all the posts... who does? So now the word is out, right? Putting the genie back in the bottle is no easy task. Think "RED ONE overheats on Ché". How many actually know that it didn't really overheat? It took us a month to figure out that the alarm (which went off in camera) was set 10C too low. To this day people think the RED ONE overheats. I heard it yesterday from Guillermo Navarro, the DP for Guillermo Toro, when he stopped by. And he owns 4 RED ONEs... which by the way have never overheated.

I hope you will understand that we stand up when things go wrong. But we also refuse to let FUD take us down.

... Re-read Wolski's quote. He was the DP for Pirates 4 (and then chose to shoot Ridley's new movie on EPICs). Someone said that Michael Bay said that he heard that Pirates 4 did 3 setups a day? Sounds like they would need 3 years to shoot a movie like that... the math doesn't work.

Why even post this nonsense?"

Here is Dariousz Wolski's quote regarding shooting Pirates 4 in 3D on RED ONE M-X:

"We tested ALL the digital camera's available and against film and we chose the RED MX for Pirates of the Caribbean 4. We have had no camera problems with the RED ONEs and we have had the kind of support that is above and beyond the call. We didn't know what to expect when we started with 13 RED ONE MX cameras (supplied from Panavision), but the cameras are performing flawlessly under extreme conditions and we could not be happier. Thank you to the people and the incredible support from both Panavision and RED. If we had to make the decision again we wouldn't change a thing."
