RED's Jim Jannard announced this today:

"Major improvement... free as usual...

Once again, we have a new major improvement in image quality coming. Of course it will be N/C. Look for a new camera build and color science improvement the likes of Build 16, 20 and 30. It makes new (and old) footage even better. Improved DR, noise characteristics, and color stability with high ISO. The power of RAW!"


He later added:

"The upgrade will mean less noise and better colors as the image is pushed to very high ISO. The amount hasn't been quantified yet, so I can't answer the "how much" question. We think the noise level and color science that is current is pretty darn good. This just makes everything better."
