Also:

"The Quicktime component for R3Ds will support RED Rocket also. Any app that uses the REDcode QTs will also get accelerated (including FCP)."

More info coming to light about RED ROCKET:

1. It will work with standard HD formats... P and PsF.

2. Deck control will need to be via USB or serial on host computer.

3. The same breakout cables for DVI will drive the BOB.

4. When RR ships, RED will release a new version of RED Alert! (for both Mac and PC) with RED ROCKET support. This would be the first release of RED Alert! for the PC. (Also, a new "REDCINE-X" with RR support is to be released in August).

5. Multiple simultaneous outputs may be possible with the card. This is dependent on timing and rasters it needs to drive. If the two outputs meet certain shared criteria, then it may be possible. More on this once we RED gets more time to extend functionality testing.

6. Since the card is capable of real-time 4K playback, double speeds will be possible for lower res modes, but RED does not yet know the upper limit until testing is done.

7. The card supports scaling 4k to HD in realtime.

8. All the processing based on camera metadata is realtime. (ie. debayer, color, tone)

9. The Breakout Box is 1U sized, similar to the Kona3 BOB. It will allow for Quad HDMI and Quad Dual Link HD-SDI for playback of full quality realtime 4K to 4K monitor or projector from QUAD HDMI/HD-SDI.

10. The card is designed for use in a single slot and is close to full size with a slot filler for the HD-SDI BNC's.

11. More functionality will be added/enabled to the card and Software/DSK. Expect to see updates for more functionality.

12. Price is now listed at: $4750 for the RED ROCKET card and $1200 for the optional Breakout Box.

13. A Mac PCIe power cable (required to use RED ROCKET with a Mac) is listed at $20.

Just a few extra bits of info on RR from RED:

"Hyper accelerated transcoding means that almost all the heavy lifting involved in transcoding from R3D at high quality/resolution to another codec is done on Rocket. The CPU is then completely free to do the encoding part as fast as it can.

So if the CPU spent 98% of it's time doing debayer and decoding, with RED Rocket™, that 98% is handled by rocket and the CPU is free for the final encoding part.

Also, regarding 12volt power supply requirements in a system with dual 12v connections in use for a high end graphics cards:

We're in the process of liberating the external power so it's not needed. This will make things much easier especially on macpros were external 12v power is limited."

First cards are scheduled to ship in early July.
